Garden Serenade: Ivan Trevino debut in Hong Kong
Prepare for an electrifying evening at the closing concert of PercussionFest Hong Kong 2024! Esteemed American percussionist and composer Ivan Trevino and award-winning international touring soloist Dr Matthew Lau will join forces with a lineup of renewed and elite up-and-coming Hong Kong percussionists to showcase and celebrate Ivan's music.
Mexican-American percussionist, composer, and educator Ivan Trevino will make his Hong Kong debut. His works are known for mixing genres and juxtaposing different musical languages into a virtuosity unique soundscape. His catalogue of works ranges from solos to sextet to mixed-instrument chamber music. His works are frequently chosen for percussion competitions worldwide, challenging the existing musical cannon. In this evening's portrait concert, we will showcase his music front and centre.
This concert will see the Asian premiere and second performance of his newly composed percussion sextet, ''Gardens.'' Recently premiered at Baylor University in Texas, ''Gardens'' holds a special place in Ivan's heart as one of his favourite works. Hong Kong audiences will have the pleasure of seeing the Asian premiere and experiencing the piece's unique charm and significance.
