By Ivan Trevino
Ivan Trevino's music is renowned for its simple yet profound structure, which organises multiple layers and touches the heart. He has composed numerous percussion solos and chamber ensembles, from pure percussion to electronic music.
Many musicians are interested in creating music but are unsure where to begin. Others can make simple ideas but need to figure out how to grow them. In this class, I will break down my process for creating a piece and offer suggestions for those beginning their own compositional journey. I will also invite volunteers to help me create musical seeds on the spot and showcase how those seeds can grow into larger musical ideas.
